Forgiven

Kate was singing one of the songs she learned at Vacation Bible School this summer this morning:

I forgive you all my worship, I forgive you all my praise...

Actual words?

"I will give you all my worhip, I will give you all my praise..."

Photo Friday-Four Month Update

Robert turned 4 months almost two weeks ago, but he didn't have his four month check-up until yesterday. I didn't want to post his 4th Month Update without his current stats. No one wants that. So, here they are and here it is.

Weight: 13 pounds, 10 ounces

Length: 26 inches
This moves him up on the percentile charts, but now by much. He's a big as Padyn was at this age, but longer. However, he's still catching up to his big sister, Kate. She was a pound heavier at this age, but Robbie beats her in length, too. He's not much of a little peanut anymore.

Naps: 4 or 5 a day, each ranging from 30 minutes to 2 hours

Feeds: 7 or 8 a day, one being in the middle of the night. No solids yet (Mommy's too lazy.)

Sleeping: About 11 hours at night, waking up 2 or 3 times before he's up for good in the morning. Bedtime is around 9pm, and he usually wakes up around 1:30am to have his pacifier but back in, then again around 3 for a feeding. He's awake again between 5:30 and 6. He comes to bed with me then so he can eat while I go back to sleep. He usually wakes up after 8am, but now that school has started, I'm waking him up around 7:45 to feed him before we take the girls to school.

Last night, he slept for 9 hours between feedings. Nine hours! But I realized later, he had had his shots and that always makes him sleeping. I'm not banking on that tonight. I'm assuming 6 hours again. While Robbie doesn't get as much one on one time with Mommy, he does get a bunch of time with his sisters. They have not tired of holding him, kissing and hugging him, and entertaining him by dancing around like crazy people. Some of the other things he loves doing are:

being tickled-that always gets a good giggle out of him

playing on his playmat-He has just started reaching up for the toys. He doesn't always know how to let go, though. Sometimes he'll start hollering and when I go over, one of his little fingers is caught on a ring. He needs me to help him get unstuck. I should teach Padyn to recognize that.
spitting up and drooling-ALL THE TIME

sticking everything in his mouth-his two favorites are his hands and his burp rag

hanging out on his changing table, especially if he's naked

smiling and blabbering-lots of oohs and ahhs

being held by Mommy or Daddy

hanging out in his bouncy seat, trying to bounce himself out-If he wasn't strapped into that thing, he'd bounce himself right out.
(This outfit, by the way, is one of two (only two!) articles of clothing that I bought him. I was afraid he'd outgrow it before it was cool enough for him to wear. Fortunately, it's been cool here lately in the mornings and I've been able to show it off. I'm trying to get him into it another couple times before he becomes too long, but as you can see, that might not happen. It already looks like waders on him. But it's so stickin' cute!)

While he's a pretty happy and content babe, there are a few things he does not like:

being in his swing
being unable to see anyone
cold water (Don't try to dip his feet in the pool. He hates that.)
not being held when he's tired (like right now)
loud, sudden noises (who does?)

Other random tidbit: He has the stinkiest farts. It might be because he only poops about every five or so days.

He doesn't seem to mind being on his tummy. He doesn't hate it like Padyn did, nor does he immediately pick his head up and roll himself over like Kate did at this age. He just hangs out there for a little bit, drools on whatever he can, then starts making noises that indicate he'd like a change of position please. He hasn't tried to roll over at all yet. I wasn't blogging yet when Padyn was this age, but I was with Katelyn. I went back today and looked at my posts when she was around this age. You can look here, here, and here if you want to compare my two more active children.

Ok, that's it. This post has literally taken me ALL DAY to write...a side effect of having three kids, so I'm going to be done now. It's bedtime for the little one. I'm hoping for another 9 hours, but I ain't holding my breath.
Have you ever seen anything cuter?
Happy Friday.

First Day of School

School began today...First, we dropped Padyn off at her first grade classroom. She has two teachers this year. Mrs. D and Mrs. F.
Next, we went over to Kate's preschool. This is her favorite thing in the classroom: Penny the Dog. Since Kate's class is called the "Playful Puppies," Penny is their class mascot.
Even Mommy was excited about the first day of school...especially after both girls had been dropped off and left!

First Day of School Tomorrow

Both girls start school tomorrow. Padyn starts first (FIRST!) grade and Kate is starting at her new preschool (where she will be referred to by her given name since there is another Kate in her class).

Oh, blessed routine, here we come!

Trouble with Idioms

Sometime last week...

Mommy: Kate, you are driving me crazy!

Kate: No, Mommy. I not driving.

My Kids Are Weird

Currently, Kate is asleep on the floor of my closet and Padyn is having quiet time in a box. Seriously...where have these girls come from?

Photo Friday-Four Month Comparison

Here we are again...another month and another comparison. Just for fun, I went back and looked at the comparison of the girls at this age. You can see it here. It might be the only month I managed to get the girls in shots in the same outfit. I must have planned that. I'm not as with it now that I have 3 kids as I was when I only had two. I doubt you'll ever see a comparison where all three kids are wearing the same outfit. Of course, it is harder now that we threw a boy into the mix...

Anywho, here's the 4 month look at all three kids. New one on top, middle one in the middle, and eldest on the bottom.

Batch #1 Batch #2
Batch #3

You can definitely tell they are related, eh? We aren't sure they really look like us, but they surely look like each other.

I have more recent pics of the boy to share in another post but for now, I'm going to tackle a few boxes that need unpacking while 2 of my 3 children are napping. So much fun.

Happy Friday!

Mommy's New Favorite Thing

Kids' books on CD.

The. Best. Thing. Ever.

I got a few picture books with an accompanying CDs from the library on Tuesday. The girls have listened to them non-stop since we brought them home. In the morning when they wake up, during quiet time, before dinner when they are grouchy, before bed instead of me reading to them...

And they never get bored. There's one that they think is too scary (I think there is a space ship in it) but a couple others they listen to over and over and over again. And one is expository text! About teeth! And they've listened to it at least 10 times in the last 4 days! So fabulous.

Seriously, I don't know why I haven't tried this before. And why is there a limit of 6 per library card? Can I use this as a reward? Or take it away as a consequence for bad behavior? It would probably work. It's just that good.

Best. Thing. Ever.

Well, it's the best thing this week, anyways...

Playtime

All this open space in our new house, and where do the girls want to play? In that cramped "store-all" corner of the kitchen that is still under construction. You should see all the toys they have under there with them...

Photo Essay: What I Did On My Summer Vacation

Due to limitations on how Blogger loads pictures, the following in not necessarily in chronological order...

Collected leaves to conduct science experiments...Investigated the use of force on things that go round and round...Rode on a tractor...Stayed out of the sun while watching the dogs and my sisters swim..."Rafted" down the river....Went tubing on the lake...Rode on a boat for the first time ever...Loved riding on the boat....Hung with my bro...Spiked Daddy's hair after jumping into a FRIGID river...(seriously, it was so cold, Padyn cried when she hit the water.)Tested out swim vests...Visited the deepest lake in the U.S. (That's Crater Lake for those of you who don't know)......and took a family photo.Drove like crazy people in golf carts through a really posh golf resort when no one was around...Explored a cave on said golf course...
Contemplated life...and whether or not you could actually hit a golf ball from the tee to the hole over previously mentioned cave entrance...And played in the splash zone.
But the best thing about my summer vacation was doing this...over and over and OVER again. The End.
