Can you see the yellow in his eyes? And look at that nice tan...

More Pics from the Hospital

I can't say that life is any harder these days with 3 instead of two...it's just busy with a larger requirement for organization and planning ahead. Hence, I have not taken many new pictures of the new boy since we left the hospital, nor I have posted anything recently. I haven't even checked my email in 2 days! Eventually I'll tell you how it all went down (minus the blood and gore), but for now, here's a few more pictures from our LONG hospital stay.

Sisters and Brother

All Padyn wants to do when she comes to visit is to hold her brother...Kate wants to hold him for about 3 seconds then she literally drops him. That's why Mommy stays close.

Waiting Game

Currently, I'm sitting on a very very uncomfortable hospital bed in the Labor and Delivery ward. My water broke last night at about 10pm. Well, I wouldn't say break as much as leak...anyways, at about midnight the midwife decided I should come in to be checked and make sure it really was my water. They wouldn't be terribly concerned except that a)I'm not quite "full term" (I'm 36 weeks instead of 37) and b) my Group B Strep test results have not come back yet. (I just took the test yesterday morning during my routine office visit.) Because of those two things, I have been at the hospital since 1am this morning. They won't let me leave.

Now, here's the catch. I'm not really in labor yet. They have let me wait awhile to see if contractions started on their own. They haven't. About 20 minutes ago they gave me a drug to try to kick things along without pitocin. So now I have to remain on this uncomfortable bed for another 2 hours while they monitor me and see if anything happens.

I'm bored.

But I know that in a few hours, I could be a long way from bored.

Or still bored.

I'll keep you posted.

And now, what you've all been waiting for...

...me.

And my 36 weeks pregnant belly (taken on Easter Sunday).

I'm praying this kid decides to stay in there another 4 weeks. We aren't quite ready for him to come out yet.

Kate's Birthday Party

Here are a few shots of last week's birthday girl. These were taken at playgroup where we had a little celebration for Kate's 3rd birthday in the form of cupcakes and an egg hunt.

Funny, when you ask her how old she is, she'll say she's not three yet because she isn't a big sister yet. Guess she believed that her brother would be born as soon as she turned three.

But in other amazing news, she has given up the pacifier. It's been a week now since we told her she was a big girl now and didn't need it anymore. She occasionally asks for it, but there has been no major trauma or showdown. I keep waiting for the middle of the night drama. I'm sure it's coming...

Photo Friday-On Monday

I started uploading photos Friday night, but the laptop I was on was so slow that I quit in frustration. Just now I was trying to upload photos from Kate's b.day party, that Blogger didn't like those, either. So, I guess we'll have a few photo posts this week. Lucky for you...

Here is another "box play" day. Both girls got their own box from Costco and decided that TV viewing was better from the box. Watching a box from a box...go figure.

Life Lesson #62...

...Be sure to secure the gallon jug of tung oil (a wood sealer/finisher) when transporting it in the back of your car. Oh, and double check the seal on the lid. Otherwise, you and your hubbie (who has WAY more important and pressing things to be doing to your still-to-be-lived-in-house) will spend a couple hours:

-scooping a gallon of oil out of your spare wheel well...
-taking every plastic bit out of the back of your car and wiping it down with paint thinner, only to wonder what the paint thinner might do to the plastic...
-throwing away your canvas cargo bags and probably your stroller...
-replacing the carpet from the back of your car...
-leaving fans running in your car for days on end...
-driving around with the windows rolled down when it's not quite warm enough to do that...

...in the rain, of course.

Yea, just be sure that puppy is secure.

Progress-Photo Diary of a House Remodel Entry #4

The painters FINALLY finished on Monday. And Joel has been busy sanding the floors all weekend and yesterday. What a difference those two things make. Even without being finished, the floors look great, and the paint really cleans up the joint. It is actually looking like we might be able to live in it sometime in the future...it looks so much more livable than it did here.

Kitchen looking into the family room...those white boards on the floor are the baseboards that will go up after the floors are done.
Kitchen with a view to the backyardEntryway...look! No more brown front door! No more streaks on the floor! No more ugly brown beam! (That door to the right is the office)
Family room looking into the kitchenFamily room...no more gray fireplaceThere are two rooms in the house that aren't khaki. Can you guess whose they are?
I don't think I'll be able to live with the pink or the blue for 20 years, but that's the beauty of paint. When the kids are going through their black/red/purple/rainbow stripes phase, we can just change it.

Still to do...

Starting tomorrow: oiling and staining the floors

This weekend: beginning to lay the tile in the kitchen
And I really should take a picture of my garage filled with Ikea cabinets waiting to be assembled. That's a sight.

Photo Friday-Kate's 3rd Birthday

Today is Katelyn's 3rd birthday. Well, officially it is anyway. We aren't tell her that today is her birthday. We are pretending next Wednesday, the 8th, is her birthday. That' when we are having her little playgroup birthday party. I didn't want to confuse the situation or let her think her birthday should last all week long. And honestly? I'm lazy and didn't want to make two cakes. So, as far as she is concerned, her birthday is a few days away yet.

But, for the purposes of the blog, and particularly since it is Photo Friday, I thought I'd better recognize today for what it really is. Here's a brief look back at Kate's previous birthday days, starting from the very first one...

And then she turned one...

Suddenly, the terrible twos hit...
(that is chocolate frosting from her birthday cupcakes)
And here we are today at 3...

Happy Birthday, Super Girl. We love you.

And Happy Friday to all of you.
